A Master

August 10th, 2009

Once becoming a master your responsibilities even increases more. Not alone you have to work with students inside the dojang, as well, You have to help others outside the dojang too. Taekwondo becomes a way of life and you would go pass the point of oneself if not already. One of your prime goals in life is to help others and enjoy making a more peaceful world.
Sometimes by helping others my problems don’t seem that big.

A Student

August 10th, 2009

Of course in this day and age students are becoming more expecting and less giving. It seems as long as they have achieved what they set out to achieve, it is ok for them to forget about others. The way of martial art is getting forgotten. Just a quick reminder how to be a good student

  1. Never tire of learning; a student must always be eager to learn and ask questions.
  2. A good student must be willing to sacrifice for his art and his instructor. Many students feel that their training is a commodity bought with monthly fees, and are unwilling to take part in any demonstrations ,teaching or work around the dojang. An instructor can afford to lose this type of student.
  3. Always set a good example to the lower ranking students. They always look up to their seniors.
  4. Always be loyal and never criticise the instructor, organisation or the teaching methods.

  5. If an instructor teaches a technique, practice it and try to use it.
  6. A student’s conduct outside the dojang reflects the organisation and the instructor.

  7. If a student adopts a technique from another dojang and the instructor disapproves of it, the student must discard it immediately, or train in the dojang where it was learnt.

  8. Never be disrespectful to the instructor, although a student is allowed to disagree with the instructor, he must first follow the instruction, then discuss it later.

  9. Always arrive before training is due to start, and ensure that you have a good attendance record.

  10. Never break a trust.
  11. Try to make instructor’s job easier by cooperating with him.
  12.  As your ranking increases you should become more mature.

An Instructor

August 7th, 2009

An instructor is someone that gives unconditional to his students. His main thoughts are to develop the students mind and body. A good instructor is the one who develops more difficult students. I think the instructors that deal with talented students do not achieve as much.
Good students make their instructor look good.
